On the surface, Mere Husband Ki Biwi might look like a chaotic tale involving an ex-wife and a present girlfriend. Yet, Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh deliver a film that hides a meaningful lesson beneath its quirky humor. This movie promises an exciting journey through love, heartbreak, and the harsh truths behind a breakup.
The plot centers on Ankur Chaddha, played by Arjun Kapoor, haunted by memories of his unsuccessful marriage with Prabhleen Dhillon, portrayed by Bhumi Pednekar. Love rekindles in his life when he reconnects with his college flame, Antara Khanna, played by Rakul Preet Singh. As Ankur endeavors to start anew with Antara, his past shadows surface, turning his new beginning into a nightmare. What follows is a clash between the past and the present, weaving a tale of romance, heartbreak, and harsh revelations.

Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie Review: Script Analysis
Director Mudassar Aziz skillfully crafts a story reflecting the realities of modern relationships and marriages. By highlighting Antara and Ankur’s challenging marriage, the film underscores the fallout of an ill-matched couple. It paints a vivid picture of a woman’s struggle to juggle work and marriage and the difficult choice of having a child amid underlying conflicts. The portrayal of a strained marriage is brutally honest.
The film succeeds in illustrating the idea of moving on from a past relationship, though this theme becomes tangled in the exaggerated love triangle of the second half. It features some delightful supporting characters that have the potential to enhance its appeal as a family film, but they suffer due to weak writing.
Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie Review: Star Performance
Arjun Kapoor effectively portrays vulnerability, switching seamlessly between a hopeless romantic and a seemingly clueless character, while also excelling in emotionally charged scenes. The actors’ sincere performances are noteworthy. Rakul Preet Singh is charming and spirited, bringing more depth to her role in the latter half as a strong rival to the bold Prabhleen.

Yet, it’s Bhumi who steals the show with her energetic portrayal of Prabhleen Dhillon. She brilliantly depicts the story of many women facing the downfall of their marriages. Bhumi’s presence lights up the screen with thrilling moments. Harsh Gujral makes an impressive debut, especially in comedic sequences, maintaining the fun with his unique dialogue delivery and delightful chemistry with Arjun. Other supporting actors like Dino Morea, Shakti Kapoor, Mukesh Rishi, and Aditya Seal give commendable performances but are limited by the script’s shortcomings.
Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie Review: Direction, Music
Mudassar Aziz has largely succeeded in crafting an engaging family film with an impactful message, despite some minor issues. The soundtrack, particularly the lively version of ‘Gori Hain Kalaiya’ from Aaj Ka Arjun, stands out. Other notable songs include ‘Ikk Vaari’, ‘Rabba Mereya’, and ‘Channa Tu Bemisal.’
Mere Husband Ki Biwi Movie Review: The Last Word

Mere Husband Ki Biwi might have a few flaws, but its heart is in the right place. It conveys its core message effectively without sacrificing entertainment value. Special mentions go to Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Harsh Gujral for their stellar performances.
